T. R. Venkatachala Murti (1902 to 1986) was an Indian philosopher, writer and translator known for his studies of Oriental and Indian philosophy, including commentaries and translations of Indian and Buddhist texts. His best known work, The Central Philosophy of Buddhism, examines the Madhyamika school of Buddhist metaphysics. He was an elected honorary member of the International Association of Buddhist Studies and received the Padma Bhushan in 1959 for his contributions to education and literature.
