Timothy Bloxam Morton is a British philosopher and professor holding the Rita Shea Guffey Chair in English at Rice University. A member of the object-oriented philosophy movement, Morton is best known for developing the concept of hyperobjects, objects such as climate change and styrofoam so massively distributed across time and space that they resist localization. His work spans ecocriticism, object-oriented ontology and ecological theory, including concepts such as dark ecology, the mesh and strange strangers, alongside extensive scholarship on the Romantic poets Percy Bysshe Shelley and Mary Shelley.
