Francisco Romero

Francisco Romero lived from 1891 to 1962 and was a Latin American philosopher born in Seville, Spain, who became a leading figure of Argentine philosophy and spearheaded a reaction against the positivism that had dominated Latin American thought. Known as a dean of Ibero-American philosophers, he worked in philosophical criticism and literary translation and wrote on human culture with an emphasis on creativity and social responsibility; his 1952 masterwork Theory of Man established him as an influential figure in Ibero-American philosophical thought.
