Classical And Ancient Political Thought

Political philosophers of the ancient world who asked how a community should be ordered and ruled, from the Indian treatise on statecraft, war and public administration attributed to a legendary royal advisor, through Chinese Legalist theorists who argued for strict codified law and centralized state power as the true foundation of order, to later ancient and medieval Byzantine political thought that continued to draw on this same classical inheritance, including a Byzantine statesman-scholar's own writings on governance and administration. Spans roughly the fourth century BCE through the fourteenth century CE, ending where the Renaissance's own deliberate recovery and reworking of classical political thought begins.
