Rhina Toruño Haensly (1948 to 2022) was a Salvadoran scholar who held doctorates in both philosophy and Latin American literature. She began her career as a professor of philosophy in El Salvador before immigrating to the United States in 1981, after which she became known for her scholarship on twentieth century Latin American writers, particularly Elena Garro. She was inducted into the Academia Salvadoreña de la Lengua in 1995.
