Stephanus of Alexandria was a Byzantine philosopher and teacher active from about 580 to 640 who, alongside philosophy in the Neo-Platonic tradition, also wrote on alchemy, astrology and astronomy. He was one of the last exponents of the Alexandrian academic tradition before the Islamic conquest of Egypt, relocating to Constantinople shortly after Emperor Heraclius's accession in 610 and dying there sometime before Heraclius's own death in 641.
