Avital Ronell is an American philosopher who holds the Jacques Derrida Professorship of Philosophy at the European Graduate School and writes on continental philosophy, literary studies, psychoanalysis, political philosophy and ethics. She has written on subjects including Goethe, Alexander Graham Bell and the telephone, the structure of the test across legal, pharmaceutical, artistic and scientific domains, and stupidity and the disappearance of authority. A translator who helped introduce Jacques Derridas work to American readers, she is also a founding editor of the journal Qui Parle.
