Jean-Louis Calandrini (1703-1758) was a Genevan scientist who served as professor of mathematics and philosophy at the Academy of Geneva. He is best known for a lengthy commentary on Isaac Newton's Principia, published in Geneva between 1739 and 1742, in which he added roughly one hundred of his own footnotes. He also wrote studies on natural phenomena including the aurora borealis, comets, and lightning, and undertook unpublished research in trigonometry.
