John Worrall is a British philosopher of science who was a professor of philosophy of science at the London School of Economics until his retirement in 2019. He is best known for resurrecting structural realism, a view in the philosophy of science previously associated with Henri Poincare, and for advancing Imre Lakatoss methodology of scientific research programmes through historical work on nineteenth century optics. He has also published significant work in philosophy of medicine and served as editor-in-chief of the British Journal for the Philosophy of Science from 1974 to 1983.
