Ham Seok-heon

Ham Seok-heon, who lived from 1901 to 1989, was a Korean author, poet and religious evangelist associated with the Religious Society of Friends, or Quaker, movement in Korea, earning the nickname the Gandhi of Korea. He advocated for human rights and nonviolence throughout the twentieth century despite repeated imprisonments, developing his own philosophy called ssi-al sasang, or seed idea, centered on peace, democracy and nonviolent resistance to authority.
