Antonio Escohotado

Antonio Escohotado Espinosa was a Spanish philosopher, jurist, essayist and university professor whose thought centered on an affirmation of freedom as an antidote to fear and to the constraints that push human beings toward servitude, situating him within libertarian liberalism. He achieved wide public recognition for his research on drugs and his anti-prohibitionist positions, most notably in his 1,500-page General History of Drugs (1989), which became a reference text on the subject, and his work spanned philosophy, law, sociology and history.
