Ato Sekyi-Otu, born in Saltpond, Ghana in 1941, is a Ghanaian political philosopher known for his scholarly analysis of the dialectical thought of Frantz Fanon and of the novelist Ayi Kwei Armah. He earned an A.B. in government from Harvard in 1966 and a doctorate in political theory from the University of Toronto in 1971, studying under the political theorist C.B. Macpherson, and he taught in the Department of Social Science and the Graduate Program in Social and Political Thought at York University in Toronto until retiring as an emeritus professor in 2006. He is recognized for his contribution to African-centered leftist political theory.
