Confucian And East Asian Political Thought

Political philosophers of the Confucian and broader East Asian tradition concerned with virtuous governance, the moral education of rulers and the practical reform of administration, including the Chinese theorist who first systematized Confucianism as state ideology, Korean Confucian scholars of statecraft and the Korean Practical Learning movement's reformers, a Vietnamese Confucian statesman, and modern Korean and Japanese political thinkers, including one shaped by both Confucian ethics and Quaker pacifism, who continued to write from within this same East Asian tradition of ethically grounded governance.
