Malek Bennabi

Malek Bennabi, who lived from January 1, 1905 to October 31, 1973, was an Algerian writer and philosopher of Islamic, Salafist and Wahhabi inspiration who wrote about human society, particularly Muslim society, focusing on the reasons behind the decline of Muslim civilization and the conditions for its renaissance. He argued that a lack of new ideas in Islamic thought produced what he called civilizational bankruptcy, and that recovering past achievement required a society in which individuals felt empowered so that their industry and creativity would be rewarded.
