Georges Politzer was a Hungarian-born French philosopher and Marxist theoretician, affectionately called by some the red-headed philosopher, who was active in the French resistance during the Second World War. Born in what is now Oradea, Romania, to a Hungarian Jewish family, he built his philosophical career in France before he was captured and murdered at Fort Mont-Valerien during the Holocaust in 1942.
