Mohand Tazerout

Mohand Tazerout, who lived from 1893 to 1973, was an Algerian philosopher, writer, translator and commentator on Algerian civilization. He translated several works by German philosophers, including Oswald Spengler's The Decline of the West in 1931, and he wrote a number of books, including commentaries on Soviet communism and a political history of North Africa. Born in the Kabylia region, he studied in Algiers, then traveled through Cairo, Iran, Russia and China before serving in Belgium during the First World War and later studying in France; he spent much of his last twenty years in Algeria before dying in Tangier.
