Anibal Quijano lived from 17 November 1930 to 31 May 2018 and was a Peruvian sociologist and humanist thinker known for having developed the concepts of coloniality of power and coloniality of knowledge; his body of work has been influential in the fields of decolonial studies and critical theory.
