Political Philosophy

Schools and movements whose defining doctrine concerns the state, law, property, sovereignty or the organization of society. Belongs here: anarchist, Marxist, Legalist and social-contract schools, together with critical-theory movements such as the Frankfurt School and Natural Law Theory, whose central concern is the legitimate order of law and society even though it draws on ethics and theology. Does not belong here: schools whose central doctrine is a theory of knowledge or of individual right action without a central theory of the state.
