Home›Metaphysics›Islamic Golden Age PhilosophyGroupIslamic Golden Age PhilosophyPhilosophers of the Islamic philosophical tradition working through Aristotelian, Neoplatonic, and later Illuminationist and Transcendent Theosophy frameworks, from the early Arabic Peripatetics who first rendered Greek metaphysics into Islamic thought, through the great Andalusian commentators on Aristotle, to the Persian Illuminationist school founded on a metaphysics of light and its Safavid era Transcendent Theosophy continuation. Covers philosophers writing in Arabic and Persian across roughly the ninth through seventeenth centuries, together with philosophers working in direct dialogue with this tradition from outside it, such as a medieval Karaite Jewish philosopher shaped by Avicennian metaphysics and a Jewish philosopher working within the Averroist tradition. Excludes modern historians and interpreters of this same tradition writing in the twentieth or twenty first century, grouped instead under Other Metaphysical Traditions or Contemporary Continental Philosophy by their own field of activity.FactsBrowse BySourcesComments (0)Reader Challenges (0)FactsComparisonEra of EmergenceWell-attested8 1Browse ByAll Islamic Golden Age PhilosophyIslamic Golden Age Philosophy15 entriesIslamic Golden Age PhilosophyFilter Results15 entriesMovementAllIslamic Golden Age Philosophy (15)School of PhilosophyAllIslamic Peripateticism (1)Branch of PhilosophyAllEpistemology (1)Ethics (1)Logic (4)Metaphysics (3)Philosophy of Law (1)EraAll801 (1)980 (1)1048 (1)1080 (1)1085 (1)1105 (1)1126 (1)1154 (1)1458 (1)1561 (1)1562 (1)1571 (1)1797 (1)TraditionAllAndalusian Islamic philosophy (1)Aristotelianism (Islamic philosophical tradition) (1)Averroism (1)Avicennian school (1)Illuminationism (Ishraqi school) (1)Neoplatonizing Islamic Peripatetic (1)Peripatetic (Aristotelian) philosophy (1)Peripatetic philosophy (1)Transcendent Theosophy (al-hikmah al-muta'aliyah) (1)Transcendent Theosophy (school of Mulla Sadra) (1)NationalityAllAbbasid Caliphate (Historical) (2)Al-Andalus / Caliphate of Cordoba (Historical) (2)Iran (5)Safavid Empire (Historical) (1)Influenced ByAllAl-Farabi (1)Al-Ghazali (1)Aristotle (1)In GroupAllIslamic Golden Age Philosophy (15)Birthplace / RegionAllCordoba (1)Heraklion (1)Iran (7)Iraq (2)Mashhad (1)Spain (1)Show ResultsBrowseCompareSelect all 15Abu al-Abbas al-LawkariMetaphysics1 linkAbu'l-Barakat al-BaghdadiMetaphysics1 linkAl-KindiMetaphysics7 linksAverroesMetaphysics6 linksAvicennaMetaphysics6 linksElia del MedigoMetaphysics1 linkHadi SabzavariMetaphysics2 linksIbn BajjahMetaphysics1 linkIbn TufailMetaphysics2 linksMir DamadMetaphysics2 linksMir FindiriskiMetaphysics1 linkMulla SadraMetaphysics2 linksOmar KhayyamMetaphysics1 linkShams al-Din al-ShahrazuriMetaphysics1 linkShihab al-Din SuhrawardiMetaphysics5 linksSources1.
