Jolanta Brach-Czaina was a Polish philosopher and feminist, a professor of philosophy whose work focused on aesthetics, philosophy of art and culture, anthropology and gender studies. Her book Szczeliny istnienia (Fissures in Existence, 1992) has been called the Bible of Feminism by Polish literary and art critics, and she also wrote Blony umyslu (Membranes of the Mind, 2003). She was an initiator of Manifesta, a 2003 proclamation advocating for womens active participation in Polish public life.
