Kathleen Stock is a British philosopher and writer who was a professor of philosophy at the University of Sussex until 2021. Her academic work concerns aesthetics, fiction and imagination, and sexual objectification and sexual orientation. Her 2021 book Material Girls: Why Reality Matters for Feminism offers a critical discussion of gender identity theory, arguing that biological sex should remain central to feminist analysis, and she has become widely known for her opposition to gender identity concepts in transgender rights debates.
