Quassim Cassam, born in 1961 in Kenya, is a professor of philosophy at the University of Warwick and an Honorary Fellow of Keble College, Oxford. His research centers on epistemology, including epistemic vices such as closed-mindedness, dogmatism, overconfidence and wishful thinking, self-knowledge and perception, Kantian philosophy, and applied epistemology topics such as extremism, terrorism and conspiracy theories. He taught at Oxford as a Fellow of Wadham College from 1986 to 2004 and later held positions at Northwestern University, University College London and Cambridge University, where he was Knightbridge Professor. He served as President of the Aristotelian Society from 2010 to 2011, was elected a Fellow of the British Academy in 2022, and is the author of books including Vices of the Mind, published in 2019, and Extremism: A Philosophical Analysis, published in 2021.
