Walter Terence Stace

Walter Terence Stace was a British civil servant, educator, public philosopher and epistemologist who wrote on Hegel, mysticism and moral relativism. He served in the Ceylon Civil Service from 1910 to 1932 before joining the philosophy department at Princeton University, where he remained until 1955, and he is best remembered for his studies of mysticism, including Mysticism and Philosophy and The Teachings of the Mystics, both published in 1960, works that shaped later study of the subject even as critics faulted their methodological rigor and their assumption that mystical experience is fundamentally the same across traditions.
