A collection of aphorisms and commentary by Samuel Taylor Coleridge, first published in London in 1825. Its distinction between Reason and Understanding, framed as a guide to Christian reflection, reached American readers through the 1829 Burlington, Vermont edition with an introductory essay by James Marsh, and became a founding text for New England Transcendentalism.
